What this is

You were served papers. Now what?

If your spouse filed for divorce and you're playing catch-up — reading documents that don't quite make sense, wondering how much time you have and what happens to your kids — you are not unusual. You're just the person who didn't get to start this conversation.

Proper divorce attorneys are the right answer for most of what comes next. They also take weeks to instruct and months to work through.

Fighting Chance sits in that gap. Seven specialist AI agents walk you through what's happening, help you build a coherent position, and prepare a complete package you can take to an attorney for a final sign-off. Days instead of months.

The agents

Seven specialists, in your corner.

Family law has too many moving parts for one AI to handle well. Fighting Chance uses seven specialist agents, each trained on one corner of South African family law.

Intake

Reads what you got

Parses the summons, particulars of claim, any affidavits — and explains in plain English what each clause actually demands of you.

Strategist

Your position

Maps your situation to the Divorce Act, Matrimonial Property Act, and relevant precedent. Tells you what's arguable and what isn't.

Custody

For the kids

Walks the Children's Act s7 best-interest factors. Helps you articulate the role you actually play as a parent — with evidence, not bitterness.

Assets

The money picture

Accrual calculations, realistic asset valuations, pension fund clean-break mechanics, hidden asset flags.

Synthesis

The whole view

Pulls everything the specialists found into one coherent position memo. No contradictions. One version of your story.

Communicator

What you say

Drafts your replies using BIFF and Grey Rock methodology. Keeps things factual and short.

Compliance

Final check

Verifies your complete package against SA procedural requirements, ethics rules, and common drafting errors.

Coordinator

Runs the room

Routes your case between specialists, catches low-confidence outputs for a second look, and makes sure nothing falls through the gaps.

Pricing

Cost-recovery pricing. Not a business model.

Fighting Chance is built for access, not profit. The only things we ask you to cover are the actual AI costs, and the attorney's fee — paid directly to them, not to us.

Is Fighting Chance right for you?

Straight answers.

Fighting Chance isn't the right tool for every divorce. If it's not right for yours we'd rather say so now.

Fighting Chance is for you if

You're catching up on a matter someone else started.

Your spouse filed for divorce and you're trying to understand what's happening.
You want to know your actual rights under SA family law — especially around your children.
Getting your kids through this with as little disruption as possible matters to you.
You're willing to do the work of understanding your own situation.
You want a complete, coherent position built before you sit in front of an attorney.
You're in South Africa and the matter will be heard in a South African court.

Fighting Chance is NOT for you if

You need urgent action, or you want to cause harm.

You need emergency legal action right now — a Protection Order, urgent Rule 43 interim relief.
You're facing allegations of abuse or criminal charges alongside the divorce.
Your matter involves complex corporate structures, trusts, offshore assets, or cross-border elements.
You're looking for a tool to hurt, punish, or trap your spouse. That is not what this is.
If there is any violence or abuse in your relationship — contact the GBV Command Centre on 0800 428 428 (free, 24/7). Legal Aid SA on 0800 110 110.

Important — what Fighting Chance is not

We do not give legal advice.
We help you prepare for the people who do.

Fighting Chance provides legal information and document preparation based on publicly available South African family law. That is different from legal advice, which may only be given by an admitted legal practitioner.

The final stage of every Fighting Chance matter is a review by a qualified attorney. They review everything the AI has drafted, suggest changes, and sign off on your package before you file.

If you need legal advice now, please speak to an attorney directly. Fighting Chance is for the days and weeks before that conversation.

Frequently asked

The things you're wondering.

Is this legal? Can I use AI to handle my divorce?

Yes. Fighting Chance doesn't 'handle' your divorce — you do. We help you understand the process and prepare documents. The final step is always a real South African attorney reviewing and endorsing your package. You can do everything Fighting Chance helps with on your own with a stack of statutes and enough time. We just compress the time.

My spouse has an attorney already. Am I behind?

Yes, in terms of legal preparation. That's usually why people find Fighting Chance. The good news is that under the Uniform Rules you have time to respond. By the end of the eight stages you have a coherent position prepared. The reviewing attorney then tightens it before filing.

What about my children? Will I see them during this process?

Unless a Protection Order or court order is already in place, you have full legal rights of contact and care. Fighting Chance helps you prepare your position on parenting contact early. If urgent intervention is needed because contact has been cut off, you need an attorney today.

Is my data safe?

Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit, stored on servers inside South Africa, and governed by POPIA. We never share your data with your spouse, their attorney, or any third party. You can export and delete at any time. We don't sell data or train public AI models on your matter.

Why is it free? What's the catch?

No catch. Fighting Chance is in early access. The early-access period lets us validate the product with real users. When we move to launch, the AI service will carry a small nominal fee (aiming for R199) that covers infrastructure. We are not trying to build a venture-scale business from people's worst week.

You don't have to figure this out alone.
And you don't have to wait months.

Start when you're ready. Work through the stages at your pace. Save any time you need. No obligation to continue.
